Interesting...

I can hear some classical influences in the choir, hits and strings.

Overall, the kick needs to be stronger. Think Timpani, but synth.

The break is simply.... XD, very melodic, not unfitting in a trance song, but slightly out of place in a dance song.

Well, nice song, try making non-classical originals now :)

MaestroRage responds:

I thought dance tracks were supposed to be very melodic D:

I were not correct?

The kicks do need to be stronger, I don't have any synth timpani, so i'm going to have to take real timpani, and then filter it so much, it sounds like the violin string snapping.

Or something.

I'll see if I can bring myself to make a dance original track next :D. Thanks for the review, i'm glad you liked it!

Kinda like Pendulum

The drums were like Pendulum, except you forgot to end the kick roll thing when the snare came in like pendulum did.

You also forgot a shitty saw lead >:(

Overall, yeah, you pretty much hit the nail on the head... Now you need to make a liquid funk song and do some awesome vocals lol.

StereoTactik responds:

No idea what you're talking about.

I couldn't put in a shitty saw lead because it's not in the Pendulum kit.

I haven't tried making liquid in forever. Haha how would I do the vocals?? You and your friend should do a duet, your voices are still girly. I'll just pretend it's Amy Winehouse or something.

Well...

Liked the reese.

Liked the drum samples.

Hated the drum rhythm... It worked though.

something out of 10.

StereoTactik responds:

You just cant handle the intensity and hardcoreness of techstep. You should be beaten more often.

Weird

Nice song, pretty weird, I like how the Asian synths don't really mesh with the off pads.

It definitely morphs into something nice at the end, with nice Asian instruments and melodies.

You need to work on song names! Otherwise, nice song! Keep up the good work!

Mind checking out my newest song (Under Fire (radio edit)), thanks!

TheReno responds:

Hey thanks for the review. I checked out your song and its nice. All 3 minutes. It started out weird but it was nice at the end of it. Glad you liked my song.

<3 Yum

<3 Pitchbending Basses - sound like DJ Mikesh! Real nice.

Bigger kick please, its still good though.

Nice pads. Real nice pads. Also nice percussion.

More originals please! I <3 your originals.

Whatever, great song, please keep it up!

GroundForce responds:

Congrats!!

First song that is >4 megs!!! Congratulations!!

edgemeer responds:

I had a whole album of songs easily greater than 4MB. One becuase of song length and two because I encode at 192kbps because of quality. hwne I went to possible sumbit another smaller song I had and saw the 8 MB limit ... i kinda drooled all over myself :)

Well...

Hmm, let me see...

First off that is not a good reese, very little low and not really cool sounding, more melodic than weird, so its not good. Reeses should only use a few notes.

I am hating the drums. They keep changing from one sliced break to another. FL studio is POWERFUL, use the step sequencer, it can do many interesting things.

The techno was good and it flowed ok. 6/10

boney-man responds:

Hmm, let me see...

First off I didn't intend to make a reese, I was just messing around with synths. It was supposed to be melodic because I had no idea I was making a reese.

True, the drums are pretty boring. But this was pretty much just a demo of FL 7 for my friend. I thought it sounded pretty good, so we finished it. I do use my own samples with the step sequencer, but i had just learned slicing so I tested some beats in this song.

My highest rated songs are always techno/dnb mixes... I just can't make a solid DnB.

6 is good. :D

ROFL OMG

Wow, this song seriously made me laugh out loud!! Its just funny, like weird shit and this odd bass omg make more.

Rig responds:

bomp bomp blomp

Ok...

It was good, not bad. It could use some improvement...

First off, it didn't move as much as other remixes did, it just kind of sat there...

Next, the kick was not big enough, eq lower to get the trance/techno sound. It also sounds suspiciously like an FL preset kick. Whatever, generic gating, blah, good song.

Great for the masses, not great for true fans of that genre. Be assured - Newgrounds will love it with its harmonization and shit, but you have made better, in my opinion.

HouseMasta responds:

yea i can see what you mean. well ill take those things into consideration for my next song. and im sorry you didnt fully enjoy it. whatevs

Nice!

So, this is a good first submission, so I will assume that you have been making music for a bit.

The first thing I noticed was that there was a bit of static on the high frequencies, try filtering to remove.

The second thing I noticed, was that it was repetitive. It is pretty much the same theme with a few minor changes, for about 2 minutes. Now, if it was an eight minute trance song, that would be ok, but it is very short, so try either extending it or making it longer.

The third thing I noticed was that the background synth with a phaser on it should have been a bit more dry.

The kick was not strong enough, try adding a multiband and adding more bass, and then trying to eq it to as close to 0 as you can without going over.

Now, for the most important part - post production mastering. I noticed how the waveform did not seem compressed or soft-clipped, and that is good. However, I did notice that the master track was eqed, and that is OK, as it is minor.

Now, I liked the complex bass rhythm, but I would have preferred to see it sidechained to the kick, as that makes it duck when the kick plays.

I also like the reverb on the snare, it makes the atmosphere better.

Overall, I liked it, but there were a few details I would have filled in had I been making it.

9/10

TriState responds:

Thanks for the details. I'll be sure to look at the song later and fix some things. Thanks again!
