Really Good!

I really thought this was good! It was very video game-esque and had a nice melody line.

It reminded me of the old-fashioned 16-bit game music with its simplicity and melodic patterns. I can see it being used in a video game remake.

The main synth was awesome and really drove it along. The song was bouncy and happy, and had a good feeling to it!

I would suggest more instruments, to give some background noise. The main synth was repetitive, but if you added a background, you could subtly alter that and it would make a large difference!

I love the drums, they get the point across well. What program do you use?

Next time, I would suggest a slightly shorter intro.

Other than the above issues, it was a very good song. Keep it up!

Again, thanks for the review! As for my program, I use FL Studio 7. If you'd like to know where to get ahold of it, send me an email at erichfinkle@msn.com.

Great!

I really love the ravey trance style used here! There are a bunch of good things here!

The piano in the beginning really shows emotion well, and sets a good mood for the tune.

The repeating kicks were also very good, as they established the style. In fact, the repeating sections were overall very good!

My only qualm was with the end. It ended rather quickly. I think a good ending should have some sort of falling action before the cut off.

Very good job, keep it up!

I liked doing this one. You can tell it was done early on in my days, though. (I hadn't discovered Fruity Reeverb yet!) Thanks for your review, as always, Navi!

Some Minor Stuff

It was a very good remix, albeit short. It had some very good features and some very bad.

I really liked the drums, the clap got the feeling across well. I also liked how the guitar blended with the synth.

There was also a few problems. I don't think that the main melody which kicks in later is strong enough, it needs to be louder.

This remix is also short, which is not necessarily a bad thing, just can get annoying sometimes.

I also didn't really like the articulation behind the melody in the beginning. Also, I didn't like the metallic echo that the main synth had in the beginning.

Otherwise, good song!

Thanks for the feedback, mate. It's not perfect, but it was fun! ^^

Nice!

I actually really liked this! It gets the song across very well.

The main synthesizer was awesome and fit the genre very well.

I also liked how the drums actually varied within parts, unlike a long looping drum part.

It is good to have different parts and variation, and you accomplished it quite nicely! Keep it up!

Whoa!! A really fast response, and a GOOD one, too! Thanks for your review!

I made it late one night when my internet was out. ^^;

Some Good+Some Bad

I liked it! It captured the melody well, also the choice of instrument(s) was nice.

I didn't like the drums, not because of the rhythm, but because of lack of variation. I might be a little biased because of other remixes, but the drums were definitely not varied enough and slightly unsuited to the song.

Another problem was that there wasn't enough going on. There was no background music to give it fullness.

I liked the concept of a 2 instrument song. It was, well, interesting.

I have heard a bunch of Mario tributes, and yours is pretty good! Keep it up!

Yorou responds:

I thought the drums sounded really cool, until the second time I listened to it(yes, I listen to my own music!). Then, it just sounded stupid.
Hmm. I thought I put plenty of layers in the synth to make harmony, but I guess that didn't come out right either. Ah well, thanx for reviewing!

Good Job!

I actually liked this song a lot! I especially liked how the drums blended with the melody. Keep it up.

Also, a more appropriate category would be D&B.

Chrispington responds:

Thanks dewd!

Good Job!

Nice song! I can see you tried hard to make this! The main synth fits the style well, though the chorus part could use some variation.

Its not really trance, or at least hard (ParagonX9-esque) trance. It is nice and does fit.

The violin actually matches with the music for that stage.

I didn't really like the drums. I would have preferred something less like a kick and more like something that would fit in with the short synth and violins.

Overall, nice song and I can see that you worked hard on it!

Yorou responds:

Thanks! I'm glad you like it!
...But I liked the drums :'( Oh well. Thanks anyway!

Didn't do too much!

It seems that you took the midi, added some random instruments and submitted it, taking no though to anything else. Here are some tips.

1. Always look at the mixer! As great remixers such as ParagonX9 and PaulStetich have shown, the volume of a part compared to the other parts is essential for a good song.

2. Try some new instruments! Use Sytrus and mess with the knobs! Have some fun while producing audio (yes, even people who don't produce flash get to have fun)!

3. It was very repetitive. Try changing up the song through minor tweaking in the piano roll or adding new parts. Remember, changes can be subtle, as long as they are there!

Hope this helps!

yeah i know i didnt do a lot with it its because its just a cover. and idk what u mean by took the midi and added instruments i made very single note. i agree tho its not the best

Some notes and other stuff...

First off, ParagonX9 is a girl. About the song...

Um, the melody was OK, there was wayyy to much background noise though!

The main melody (the one thats supposed to be HEARD) was very muted and didn't really get enough emphasis.

Next time, it would help to not only try harder, but to make a longer song.

Although ParagonX9 is known for short remixes, they're accepted because they are BETTER than longer remixes. Making a remix that isn't as good but is still short will NOT get you appreciation like it did ParagonX9.

Try a bit harder next time.

Orion928 responds:

Ok... first of all, i just wanna let you know im still new to making music and i wasnt trying to copy him. i mearly made a remix of a song i liked from one of my favorite games. I didnt know about noise reduction filters when i made this, i didnt know what a compressor was, i just plain messed around with the piano roll. and as for the longer song, have you hard the original song is only about 15 to 30 seconds long and loops over and over, minly because its from an old game, but also because it was meant to sound that way. not to mention, i have to make all my songs in one sitting because i dont have the full version of fl studio so dont tell me to try harder when i did the best i could at the time. if it would make you happier i could re do the song with less background noise and with more effort. but realize this, i am not as good as some of the other people heere nor will i be as good for a long time... Douchebag.

Nice, Great Beat!

Great song, the beat was awesome! I think that there wasn't enough on the lower end though. Keep it up!
