Time for a review.

I've been looking through your music, and I've concluded that you are one of the better artists here. The mixing is excellent, and are these songs professionally mastered?

The percussion in this song is excellent, but I'm not so sure about the voice. Sounds like it needs a bit more EQing, its kinda plain.

The slightly acidic sounds are really cool, and I like them! Its a bit short, but at least its high quality!

10/10

hi navij, yes, these tracks are mastered. some of them fully eq-ed, and mastered, some of them not. i this "track" made just for fun, that voice just an extra stuff :). thanks ur review ;)

Nice song, one small issue

As always, awesome guitar and vocals! Really nice.

One issue I had was STATIC. Plain and simple. As a professional artist, I'm sure that you hear it, and probably know how to remove it. If you don't have the mastering tools to get rid of it, I can send you Waves X-Noise, which is all you should need to get good mastering on your acoustic tracks.

For the vocals, I would EQ up a bit around 4k to 8k, for increased upper vocal clarity. If you do that after removing the noise, it will sound nice and clear. If you do not remove the static before EQing, then it will emphasize the noise, and it will be bad.

Overall, it is a good quality song, and the guitar is nice and calm, I like your music! 10/10

Kingbastard responds:

yeah, it's a demo song.
You think too much:) Personally I like a little 'static'

Wewt

A new track, looking foward to it.

The bass sounds like an unbended and offbeat Benassi Bass, meaning saws EQed up at low and mid low.

The track itself was cool. The part that particularly stood out to me was the square melody synth, it was cool, but stuck out a lot, which is not necessarily a bad thing.

The drums were bad, unless you meant for them all to be synced noise. If I wanted drums like that, I would use 808 samples or an 808 vst.

The vox didn't really add to the song, but I guess they fit, kind of.

My main issue is that the track didn't follow any structure at all! It just kinda glided into 3 main parts. Nothing was brought up again once it was over! I would have liked a bit of repetition, or repeated parts.

Overall, I think its kinda what people were expecting from you! Nice work!

g-r4ve responds:

I was trying to make it sound like minimal techno, so yes the noise drums were intentional. As for the song structure... I have a tendency of making it as diverse as I can, because NG and the listeners whine about it so much... so im actually scared of repeating something =/

OMG

This song is hilarious! Do one for the newest one... wait, no don't. It'd be the same stuff.

I like!

First off, nice mixing and use of a stereo enhancer, it really made it feel nice in my head (whatever that means).

Nice incorporation of the 808, makes it feel a bit like Synthtron/Electroclash.

I don't like how the bass melody harmonized with the pads. It felt a bit off. Try changing that bottom note.

I like the pads, but maybe you could have picked something other than a generic violin section for the strings.

Overall, I like the drums and pads, but the bass is off. Since you can edit audio now, that it easily fixable!

8/10, and if you feel like it, maybe you could check out my most recent tune, thanks!

The-Scarecrow responds:

Thanks for the response, I'll see what I can fix up.

:]

Wow!!

Superb! What software are you using?

This song had many great harmonies! Man, this is awesome ambient DnB!

The drum work was nice, and the samples fit well! I thought that the shakers on the offbeats were too quiet, and didn't amplify the amen enough.

I think that the 303 gated bass was slightly unfit, but I love how it blended. I didn't know that Garageband (if you are still using that) could pitchbend! Man, you are an awesome artist!

Please, keep making music! I would be happy to collab with you, if you wanted!

Stan-SB responds:

how did you know i was using garageband? lol
btw i wasnt using amen i always try to make the piece 100% mine so every thing is made from scratch

and thank you everyone for your comments so far ill keep the tunes comin
;)

Nice, I do have a few things against it though

Personally I liked it, I only had a few things I thought should change.

First, I hate the amen samples, you should make your own samples, rather than slicing them. I do think that they are EQed well, even though they are overused.

The reese was nice. You should try changing the waveform to sine and seeing what happens! It can do cool things, as shown to me by Geier/API.

Overall nice song, 9/10!

LJCoffee responds:

I listen to a lot of BassDrive and it seems that as overused as the Amen break may be, it's still quite popular and gets the job done. I'm not worried about it though - I'm not really a heavy drum and bass artist so it's no biggie. As for using sine wav's, it would probably be cool but I wanted the reese to stand out a little more from the falling sine in the background so I used a different wavetable... Maybe I'll put some more together some time and see what happens.

Thanks!
